Into the Fire

by Elizabeth Martin

The weather is cold and wet here again. Cold, slushy rain is pouring from the sky. Makes me want to escape to the South. It doesn’t even have to be warm, just sunny! Since that isn’t possible right now, I settled for the next best thing! I built the first fire of the season in the fireplace tonight. Not just any fire either, a roaring and blazing fire. Now I am too hot, but it sure is pretty to look at!

Freaky Friday

by Elizabeth Martin

It is the day before Halloween so I thought I would share a couple of rather creepy photos I took this past Summer at my aunt and uncle’s lake home in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.

My daughter, Kristin, and I were down by the lake shore when she said, “Mom, come take a look at this!” My aunt Bev’s Pelican statue was covered with spider shells or skeletons. I really don’t know what to call them, but they were quite freaky none-the-less.

Almost looks like something from a movie or something. Are they dead? Or did they just shed their shells?

Whatever it was, the photos look so surreal and creepy. Even though I am not a fan of Halloween, I thought this would be an appropriate time to share my creepy spider photos!

Let There Be Color

by Elizabeth Martin

Much of this fall has been gloomy and overcast. Couple that with the dwindling of daylight hours and it gets downright depressing. That is why on the rare occasion the sun does shine I make sure to get outside and enjoy it for a bit. Today is another gray and gloomy day, which is why I want to share another photo from the other day.

The colors on this photo are so rich and vibrant. The brilliant deep blues and the rich golden leaves contrasted to whiteness of the Paper Birch bark are stunning. This photo came out of the camera just like this. The colors were not modified or enhanced in any way. This was simply a gift.

Greetings!

My name is Elizabeth (Liz) Martin and this is my new photoblog. I expect most people who wander in here will already know me, but for those who don’t here is a little bit of background information. I consider myself to be just a frumpy lady with a camera. Photography is my passion. It helps me see the world in a whole new light.  There is rarely a place I go without my camera in tow, and my eyes are always searching for photo ops. This photoblog is simply a place where I can share the many pictures I take. Below is my self portrait which was taken today on my morning walk.

I still have a fair amount of work left to do on this website, but in actuality, there will always be work to be done here. If I waited for it to be finished it would never open. So pardon my dust, especially in the near future as I make some adjustments to the blog portion of the site. If you notice any glitches, please let me know so I can fix them.

Thanks for dropping by! Please leave a comment before you leave!
